When a firm uses it own capital to trade rather than a client’s money. Gains are made by taking speculative positions in the market as opposed to receiving a commission for executing a client’s trade.

What will my responsibilities be when I start as a Trader Trainee?
Everyone on the trading side starts as a Trader Trainee. The Trader Trainee program is an apprenticeship for becoming a trader. Trader Trainees participate in weekly theory sessions covering basic strategies as well as more complicated derivative pricing and risk management exercises. Trader Trainees are quickly integrated into the trading team. They work closely with experienced traders and are a vital part of implementing our trading strategies. After the markets close we stimulate a trading environment in order to test and solidify the Trader Trainees’ understanding of option theory and position management concepts. A Trader Trainee’s promotion to trader is not a timed process. It is based on hard work and their ability to demonstrate their understanding of option theory and strategy implementation.
Do Trader Trainees earn a salary?
Yes, Trader Trainees receive an annual salary and performance based bonuses. Belvedere Trading is not commissioned based and we do not require our traders to put in any of their own capital.
What material should I review before starting as a Trader Trainee?
We teach our own trading strategies and give all employees hands-on-training along with classes teaching theory and mock trading. Please visit the reading material link for books that pertain to the trading industry.
